Information and
surroundings
To reach Preikestolen follow the
road for about 4 km. One then arrives at a parking-place (no free parking). Instead take the bus from the
camp site to the parking-place. A bus time
table is at the desk.
It is about two hours by foot from the
parking area to Preikestolen. The first half of the way is easy, the second half
climbs gradually to Preikestolen and is more difficult. Strong foot-wear (for
instance mountain-boots) is recommended, especially during rainy weather.
It is also possible to walk the whole
distance from the campsite to Preikestolen. Taking it
easy, this walk takes about 3.5 hours. A good physical condition is required.

|
Other excursions to be made from the
campingsite surrounding are:
A tour by ferry across the Lysefjord, underneath Preikestolen. Taking the car is
possible, but reservation is required, the reception can help you. You can start in Forsand (over the
bridge).
A 6 holes
golfcourse
at the Preikestolen Golfklubb.
Golf clubs are available for hire.
It is possible to rent a fishing boat
in the village. The reception can help you. Fishing rods are available for
hire.
Various mountain walks, maps
available.
A riding-tour on Icelandic pony's
(in Forsand), lasting about 3
hours.

With disappointing weather a visit to
Stavanger
is certainly worth-while. Returning from Stavanger it is perhaps interesting to visit Solbakk
(half-way to Jørpeland and 50 meters towards the sea) and have a look at the
old
drawings on the rock-faces (Helleristing).

|
If one should prefer a more extensive
study of the environment, then Forsand is important, with open air museum Landa,
as well as Mona Fossen, a
magnificent waterfall, which certainly deserves
a visit. Detailed maps of the surroundings are available at the reception.
We wish you a nice stay and pleasant
holidays in Norway.
